Community Guidelines
Last updated: [Month DD, YYYY — insert before launch]
The Community Guidelines are the behavioural contract between everyone on 4Luv — and between you and the team that keeps the lights on. The short version: be a real person, treat others the way you'd want to be treated at the door of a busy café, and don't use our app to prey on people. The long version, because real moderation needs specifics:
Be who you say you are
- One honest account for one real adult. We're 18+ only, and age is verified at signup.
- Photos are yours and recent — no stock imagery, no influencer heists, no AI-generated faces pretending to be you.
- Don't run profiles for other people without their explicit, ongoing consent (and no, 'my friend made this for me' doesn't survive a report).
- Complete photo verification if you want the green checkmark — unverified accounts can browse, but they cannot message first.
- If your life circumstances that matter to matching change — you're married now, that was your business email — update them. Misrepresenting your goals or status is a fake profile under our rules.
Respect is the whole game
Rejection is not an emergency. 'No', silence, and unmatching are complete answers, and hammering someone across platforms for one gets you removed.
No harassment or targeted abuse: name-calling, mocking anatomy, relentless messaging after being blocked, coordinating pile-ons, threatening to share private images, doxxing, or encouraging self-harm.
No hate. Slurs, demeaning generalisations about any group, or ideology built on others' inferiority — whether or not you couch it as 'just asking questions' or a 'preference'. Preference is who you match with; contempt is what you type about people you haven't matched with. The first is yours; the second ends accounts.
Consent culture online too: no graphic sexual content in first messages, no pressure for nudes or secrecy, no sexual remarks that ignore a clear 'not into this'.
Don't gatekeep someone's identity: respect stated pronouns and don't interrogate new partners about their bodies, history, or documentation. Curiosity is fine; audits are not.
Never use 4Luv to harm people's wallets or safety
- No requests for money, gift cards, crypto deposits, 'investment' tips, emergency loans, or links to payment schemes — this is the fastest route to a permanent ban and a report to the relevant authorities.
- No romance scams, catfishing pipelines, or moving people to encrypted apps to continue a scheme.
- No selling, recruiting, MLM, onlyfans-funneling, or promoting external services through DMs.
- No phishing: don't send links designed to harvest credentials, and don't ask people for passwords, codes, or documents.
Content that doesn't belong on 4Luv
- Nudity and sexually explicit images or videos in profiles or first-contact messages.
- Violent, gory, or intimidation content, including images meant to threaten.
- Anything sexual involving or depicting minors — this is unlawful; we will remove it and report it to NCMEC and law enforcement without notice to the account.
- Non-consensual intimate imagery of adults (so-called 'revenge porn') — same treatment: removal plus reporting to authorities.
- Content that violates someone else's rights: their photos, their private information, their likeness used to defame.
- Glaringly spammy profiles: empty bios, copied text, and the same message sent to fifty people in an hour.
Reporting: what to do and what happens
Tap report on any profile, photo, or message. Pick the closest reason and add context if you can — screenshots of off-platform follow-ups help us enormously. Blocking someone is instant and silent: they won't be told, can't message you again, and won't surface in your matches (including accounts we can connect to them).
Reports enter a queue that is triaged by severity: threats, image-based abuse, and suspected minors are handled first, 24/7, by human moderators — not auto-decisions.
You'll normally hear back within 24 hours. You can request the outcome of reports concerning you through [email protected].
Consequences — how we actually enforce
Enforcement is graduated so it's proportionate, with obvious exceptions where severity jumps the queue:
- Level 1 — Education: a warning with the specific guideline you crossed, for minor first-time issues. Repeated Level 1s escalate.
- Level 2 — Content removal: the photo, prompt answer, or message is removed; you may appeal.
- Level 3 — Temporary suspension: access paused for 7–30 days with restrictions on restart (e.g. re-verification required).
- Level 4 — Permanent ban: the account is deleted, and device identifiers and other signals we lawfully use are blocked from new signups.
- Immediate Level 4 (plus authority reporting, where legally required) applies to: child exploitation material, non-consensual intimate imagery, credible threats of violence, and confirmed scams or extortion.
Appeals
If you think we got it wrong, tap 'appeal' where offered or email [email protected] with your case ID. A human moderator who was not involved in the original decision reviews every appeal. We uphold, overturn, or downgrade — and we explain which. Appeals of confirmed child-safety and criminal-content removals are limited to identity verification and legal process, not the content itself.
Beyond the app
These guidelines exist because people meet through 4Luv. Conduct at a 4Luv-arranged meetup that would violate them online — harassment, non-consensual photography, threats — is grounds for a permanent ban, because we won't be neutral about the safety of our users on a first date.
