We got tired of the swipe graveyard.
4Luv started with a shared complaint: we'd all spent more energy swiping than connecting.
Some of us met strangers through apps. Some of us built recommendation systems for products people buy on impulse. The two experiences rhymed uncomfortably: infinite feeds, variable rewards, streaks designed to keep you scrolling, and a lonely feeling at the end of it — on an app whose whole job was supposed to be getting you OFF your phone and onto a real date.
So we inverted the incentives. 4Luv shows fewer people, ranked by a score you can actually inspect, and optimizes for matches that end in plans for coffee — not session length. It's a worse business metric in the short term and a better product for the people who use it. We think that trade is overdue.
Safety got the same treatment. Instead of bolting on a report button and hoping for the best, moderation, verification, and privacy are designed into the core loop — because 'meet great people' means nothing if the first message is a scam and your location is a pin on a map.
What we optimize for
Outcomes, not hours-on-app
Success looks like a deleted app, not a daily streak. We'd rather you match with three people this month than swipe past three hundred.
Explainable over clever
A compatibility score you can question, edit, and reset beats a black box with better accuracy theater. Trust is the feature.
Safety as the default
Verification, human moderation, and coarse location aren't premium add-ons or settings buried six deep. They're how the app works out of the box.
Honest about our limits
No algorithm knows if you'll click. We promise to sort the deck thoughtfully — the chemistry is, and always will be, yours.
